The main aims of our research
A novel set of analytical concepts
applicable also in other social sciences
A novel interdisciplinary approach that combines conceptual perspectives of political sciences and historiography will create a new understanding of the profound consequences of wars in the twentieth-century North-Eastern Adriatic region, focusing on gender relations and on processes of their memorizing.
The “inclusion-exclusion paradox”
A concept, applicable in other geopolitical areas
The project will examine the modes of their exclusion, disempowerment and marginalisation as well as to hitherto much less studied modes of inclusion and empowerment of women in the post-war transition periods.
Construction of women’s identities
in the post-war transitions
A novel interdisciplinary approach that combines conceptual perspectives of political sciences and historiography will create a new understanding of the profound consequences of wars in the twentieth-century North-Eastern Adriatic region, focusing on gender relations and on processes of their memorizing.
“Laboratory environment”
women as ‘cross-border mediators’
Justifying the choice of the North-Eastern Adriatic region as a remarkable, unique geopolitical location and yet overlooked European case to study gender positions and interrelations during post-war transitions in transnational perspective. A novel concept of women as ‘cross-border mediators’ emphasises active, integrative aspects of women’s actions not only within the elites but also among the ‘lower-class’ border population.
